Signing Process
The signing and notarization procedure is based on location of signing and notarization. The vehicle POA can either be signed inside or outside of the UAE:
Option 1: Vehicle POA signed and used in UAE
A vehicle POA can be signed before the notary public of any Emirate. All notary publics follow similar processes to notarize a vehicle POA. A vehicle POA notarized by notary public of any Emirate is accepted and recognized all over the UAE.
Online Notarization at the Dubai Notary Public
You can choose to notarize the vehicle POA online by availing the online notarization service of Dubai notary public. Using this service, the vehicle POA can be notarized via the BOTIM app. The process is below:
- The final copy of the vehicle POA, the identification cards of the principal and the agent must be e-mailed to the Dubai notary public. The body of the e-mail should mention the principal’s mobile number, which is linked to the BOTIM app.
- The Dubai notary public will verify the identities of principal and the agent on a video call on the BOTIM app. Post verification, the Dubai notary public will approve the POA.
- The Dubai notary public will issue the notarized vehicle POA. You can collect the vehicle POA from the designated Notary Public office location.
Online Notarization (Abu Dhabi)
Online notarization services are also offered in Abu Dhabi by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD). ADJD digitally notarizes a vehicle POA in the following way:
- The vehicle POA will be uploaded on the ADJD portal. The uploaded POA must be in English and Arabic. Along with the POA, ADJD requires you to upload the identification cards of the principal, attorney, and the legal translator.
- The fees for notarization can be paid using the payment link given on the ADJD website. The fees are paid after the POA is approved by ADJD.
- After the payment of the government fees ADJD will verify the identities of the principal and the agent on a video call.
- Digitally signed copy of the vehicle POA will be emailed to you. This digital copy is recognized as an original POA all over the UAE.
Option 2: Vehicle POA signed outside UAE but used in UAE
You can choose to sign the vehicle POA in your own country of residence. The vehicle POA has to be attested by all of the below tabulated departments to be validly accepted in the UAE:

Vehicle POA Signed in UAE But Used Outside UAE
A vehicle power of attorney may be signed before notary of any Emirate in the UAE. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UAE and the embassy / consulate of the company where the vehicle POA will be used will notarize the vehicle POA for valid acceptance.
